for some hard things, we often like to create a patch that adds a
Makefile to the project so that "make" and "make install" then do
the
expected
things..

In the case of SWI-Prolog, I noticed an unusual configuration procedure.
Once I am done with getting it to compile as-is, I'll start looking into
automation.
