[PATCH clr-bundles] Add fwupd to the sysadmin-basic bundle
by Thiago Macieira
This is not the best choice, since sysadmin-basic is supposed to be
useful in conainers and you don't want to run fwupd in those or in
VMs. This is just to get the discussion started. Maybe a pundle?

Problems when connecting over USB-C-to-HDMI cable
by VanCutsem, Geoffroy
Hi folks,
I've hit a regression when using a USB-C-to-HDMI cable to connect my Skull Canyon NUC [1] to my monitor. It used to work fine (up until sometime last week) but I am not able to use this anymore. I see the Bios and bootloader screen but then it's all black (the monitor still detects an input and does not go to sleep). The system works fine if I use a standard HDMI-to-HDMI cable.
I've logged on remotely when that happens and noticed in /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_display_info that the monitor is detected (and showing as connected) but there is nothing showing on it (not even the mouse cursor). I have tried connecting to different monitors but that did not help.
I noticed this the first time this morning, then I upgraded to the latest and now I'm on the latest from a "swupd update -F staging".
Has anyone else seen this?
Thanks,
Geoffroy

Adding a Logical Volume in encrypted LVM
by Thiago Macieira
Hello
I've installed a minimal Clear Linux on a new machine I have (2.5GB used only)
and I'd like to make it mount a larger storage from an encrypted LVM Volume
Group. I have successsfully created the PV, VG and LV, as well as the
filesystem inside[1]. If I run the commands manually[2], I can mount the
filesystem.
But how do I make Clear do that automatically?
I tried the following:
a) added to /etc/crypttab
cr_sda4 sda4 - -
b) added the filesystem to /etc/fstab:
/dev/vg0/stuff /stuff btrfs defaults 0 0
c) rebooted
After this, the boot freezes sometime after asking the root filesystem's
password, but never finishes booting. There's no console login and SSH isn't
running yet.
Any help?
This works on my OpenSUSE, but the magic is hidden inside the initrd created
by dracut. I have no idea what steps it actually takes. Everything was
configured by the installer, but Clear's installer is not capable of dealing
with LVM.
[1] commands to create:
cryptsetup luksFormat /dev/sda4
cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sda4 cr_sda4
pvcreate /dev/mapper/cr_sda4
vgcreate vg0 /dev/mapper/cr_sda4
vgchange -a y
lvcreate -L200G vg0 stuff
mkfs -t btrfs /dev/vg0/stuff
[2] commands to mount manually:
cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sda4 cr_sda4
vgchange -a y
mount /dev/vg0/stuff /stuff

How to install/configure Plasma?
by VanCutsem, Geoffroy
Hi folks,
I've never used Plasma before but since I saw it got recently added to Clearlinux I thought I'd give it a spin! I installed the 'desktop-kde' bundle and selected "Plasma" from the login prompt (I had two of them, not sure if that's expected). However, regardless of which one I choose, I see the startup sceen from Plasma but then nothing, just the cursor (basic 'X' cursor) but nothing else. I have GNOME installed on my system too (which still works fine).
I noticed the same error that was reported here: https://github.com/clearlinux/distribution/issues/10, but I can't tell whether this was there beforehand or not.
Is there anything else I should do to properly configure Plasma on my system (Skull Canyon NUC with Core i7 and 32GB of RAM).
Thanks!
Geoffroy
