I'm pushing changes to apache and nginx (bundle "web-server-basic") that
will help to make those webservers more stateless and easy to configure.
Both web servers will be configured to host HTML documents from
If you have a /var/www/html folder already, nothing will change for you.
You've already gone through the effort of configuring your web server to
host files from that location, and that should remain working.
For new setups, when you first launch apache or nginx, the /var/www/
folder structure will be automatically populated *once*. A default
index.html will be put under /var/www/html, and that will be the default
webroot that both webservers will host.
You can safely delete anything under /var/www. As long as /var/www
exists, nothing in it will be touched or created.
