After several issues with php-fpm (consuming CPU, filling up logs) I'm
disabling socket activation for php-fpm. In the upcoming releases you
will see that php-fpm.socket will get removed, and that php-fpm.service
will need to be enabled and started at least once.
Why this change?
Well, php-fpm is doing management of it's own socket file and passing
file descriptors from the main management thread to its' children. I've
seen several reports that indicate that php-fpm is running into a
resource conflict over the socket with systemd's socket activation code,
and this leads to the mentioned issues.
Currently, I believe it's safer to let php-fpm handle the socket itself.
So, in the future, please remember to:
$ sudo systemctl enable php-fpm.service
$ sudo systemctl start php-fpm.service
if you are service php pages.
many test are using curl to prove that web services are working

I created a bootable USB containing the live image (clear-12720-live.img.xz). I don't have currently a linux system, so I uncompressed first the file and then used Win32 Disk Imager (https://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/) to flash the file to the USB stick. I changed in the UEFI loader the boot sequence and disabled the secure boot option. What I am getting now is just a black screen without any other feedback. What am I doing wrong? My processor is an i5-5300u.
Thanks a lot,
Has anyone ever tried to *install* clearlinux on an usb drive?
Installation went through, but booting stops with a kernel panic (can't
mount root fs).
Mounting the drive reveals that the installer created an efi partition a
swap partition and a partition for root.
Is the hpc-basic bundle still active? I can see a status "deprecated". I would like to use this bundle or some other which is relevant with hpc. I am interested mainly for using the openblas and lapack libraries. An alternative could be to use the intel mkl library, but I am not sure if this is possible. Let me know of your thoughts.
Thanks a lot,
